The number of high street brands banning sandblasting for their supply chain is increasing every week, yet the high cost luxury brands continue to drag their feet. Despite ongoing actions across Europe famous brand Dolce and Gabbana refuse to issue a ban on this deadly practice.

We now know a ban is possible. We know there are other method available that produce the same effect. These are more costly, but surely this extra cost is insignificant when your jeans are retailing at hundreds of pounds. Maybe D&G believe that their customers aren't interested in the workers making their clothes? Maybe they believe fashion is more important than the lives of the young men employed to treat their jeans?

Since the outset of the Killer Jeans campaign lots of UK highstreet brands have banned this practice, but many luxury brands, such as D&G and Armani still are holding back, while their workers continue to run the risk of contracting fatal lung diseases.

We must act to tell these brands that the price of luxury should not be paid in workers lives.

Labour Behind the Label are organising a week of action from 30th May to 5th June where supporters up and down the country can get involved in a big push to lobby brands to ban sandblasted denim. Below are some ideas of things you could do.

Things to do:

1. Pocketing
We've created a handy leaflet to allow you to sneak information about killer jeans into the pockets of garments in stores. You can do this anywhere in your local town by downloading and printing it, and slipping it into a few pockets while you are out and about. Why not get together a group of friends and do it together? We're using facebook to coordiate groups of LBL supporters in London, Brighton and Bristol. See Labour Behind the Label facebook for more information.

2. Ask the Killer question
Become a fan of D&G, Diesel and Armani on facebook and post questions on their fan pages about Killer Jeans. You could ask, 'I've heard that you distress the denim in your jeans using a practice which leads to fatal lung disease for workers. Is this true?' and post a link to www.killerjeans.org

3. Tell the world
We want more and more people to know the risks involved for workers making sandblasted jeans. There are loads of ways to tell your friends and get them to take the online action. You could tweet, change your facebook status / profile picture to promote it.

More info to follow via email during the week. Keep your eyes peeled.
