Wage increase for Cambodian garment workers
After months of intense struggle, unions and employers reach an agreement to increase wages in Cambodia. Unions and garment manufacturers in Cambodia have reached an agreement to increase wages significantly. The agreement follows months of unprecedented labour activism in Cambodia, where a rapidly growing garment industry has become the most important industrial sector and income-earner.
Cambodia: Garment workers sacked for striking
Take action today to support over 300 Cambodian workers sacked for their participation in strikes for fair wages. The workers downed their tools in September last year to support trade unions in ongoing minimum-wage negotiations. They were dismissed from their factories as a consequence.

Labour and human rights groups condemn arrest of labour leaders
Labour- and human-rights organisations in Europe, the U.S., and Canada are condemning the arrest late Thursday night of leaders of the Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity (BCWS) and calling for their immediate release. Ms. Kalpona Akter and Mr. Babul Ahkter were arrested at 2:00 am in Dhaka by twenty armed police.
BANGLADESH: Workers Demand Urgent Pay Rise
The National Garment Workers Federation of Bangladesh is urging the Bangladesh government to announce a minimum wage worth Tk 5,000 a month for the garment and textile sector by July 27 2010.
