Tuesday, 22 January 2008 00:00
On the 4th anniversary of the murder of Cambodia trade union leader, Chea Vichea, Labour Behind the Label is joining the Free Trade Union of the Workers of the Kingdom of Cambodia (FTUWKC) along with the International Trade Union Confederation, the Clean Clothes Campaign and Amnesty International in calling once again for the re-opening of the case into the two men wrongfully imprisoned for his murder, Born Samnang and Sok Samoeun.
Chea Vichea, who at the time of his murder was the president of the FTUWKC, was shot on the morning of 22nd January 2004 at a newspaper stand near Wat Lanka in Phnom Penh. The real killers have never been found. We also urge the Cambodian authorities to bring to justice the perpertrators of another assassinated FTUWKC leader, Hy Vuthy who was shot dead on February 24th 2007.
