Good news!  Thanks to concerted pressure from human and labour rights activists around the world, the Bangladeshi authorities released Mehedi Hasan from custody on Sunday, February 3. A huge thanks to everyone who took part in the action and helped us to acheive this. The outcome of the case is an enormous relief, but Hasan's arrest is a reminder that worker rights advocates in Bangladesh are under serious threat. More action is needed to ensure no other labour rights defenders end up in his position.

Mehedi Hasan UPDATE: Mehedi Hasan was released from detention on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to everyone who took action to help secure this outcome. We continue to have serious concerns about other labour rights defenders in Bangladesh, so check back here later for more actions.

Labour Behind the Label is calling for support in securing the release of Mehedi Hasan, a field investigator for the Washington D.C.-based Worker Rights Consortium, who was arrested on Thursday 24th January by the Bangladesh security forces.
