Budget retailers and supermarkets

The 'value' clothing sector, including brands like Asda, Tesco, Matalan and Peacocks, is expanding massively.  This campaign calls for brands to examine the cost of cheap clothes, and ensure that workers are not harmed in the race to the bottom. We support calls for regulation as part of this.

Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Walmart profit while supply chain workers face rights violations
Whilst the destructive role of global retailers Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Walmart in the plight of small farmers and local retailers is well known, the worker exploitation fueling their growing range of cheap fast fashion has to date remained a well kept secret.

A new report released today by the Clean Clothes Campaign reveals that while supermarkets are seeing massive profits and increasing market share in the garment sector, workers in their supply chains face increasing poverty, appalling conditions, and serious workers rights violations.

CCC rejects invitation to meet with Asda/Tesco CSR initiative

The Clean Clothes Campaign, represented in the UK by Labour Behind the Label, has written an open letter to the new Global Social Compliance Programme, brainchild of four of the world's biggest retailers, saying that "has strong reservations about the value of the initiative" and explaining why at the moment we see no value in accepting an invitation to meet with it.
